Description    : Phenobarbital is a barbiturate that may be used as an anti epileptic to control partial and generalized tonic  clonic seizures.

Composition  : Each uncoated tablet contains:

Phenobarbital BP:

30.00 mg

                             

Indications  : Intractable insomnia, Eclampsia, Spastic excitatory states, Generalised tonic clonic seizures, Febrile convulsion, Temporal lobe epilepsy, Cortical focal seizures, Status Epilepticus.

Dosage       :

The dose should be adjusted to the needs of the individual patient to achieve adequate control of seizures.

The usual dose by mouth is 60 to 180 mg daily taken at night and suggested dose for children is up to 8 mg per kg body-weight daily.
